When checking the Portuguese newspapers today, it wasn’t a surprise to see a few stories about William Carvalho’s possible move to Leicester City.
Mostly covering the recent claims from the Spanish press, the midfielder’s home country media has been saying he’s close to leaving Real Betis and signing for the Foxes.
There was only one outlet who managed to get hold of their own information, and that’s Record.
They say they’ve managed to confirm that Betis are demanding €30m for the transfer, and bring a good reason why the La Liga side can’t give a big discount on this move.
It’s said that when selling William Carvalho to Betis in a €16m deal in in 2018, Sporting made sure to get 25% of a future transfer. So even if the Spanish side now sell the midfielder for €30m, they’d only get €22.5m, leaving the other €7.5m to the Lisbon side.
That’s all the Portuguese press will know for now, even though they used to be on the money when covering William’s possible move to England in the past, as he was heavily linked to Premier League sides between 2016 and 2018.
