Jean-Clair Todibo is back on Everton’s radar after they reportedly failed to sign the Barcelona centre-back in the winter market.
On May 21st, both Sport and Mundo Deportivo reported the Merseyside club’s interest in the 20-year-old and it was also suggested the Toffees are in ‘pole position’ for his signing.
Today’s edition of Sport claims the La Liga winners are ‘delaying negotiations’ with Carlo Ancelotti’s side for the Frenchman.
That’s because the Catalan club’s idea is to include Todibo as a bargaining chip to sign Juventus’ Miralem Pjanić.
According to the report, the Bosnian midfielder is one step away from the Camp Nou and Barca’s idea is to close the operation this week.
Maurizio Sarri’s preference is to take Arthur, but the Brazilian isn’t keen on leaving the Spanish champions.
Therefore, Barca have decided to include their defenders as a part of the operation and the former Toulouse man is one of two players who could move to the Turin club.
With Todibo used as a bargaining chip to deal with Juve, the Blaugrana have delayed negotiations with the Premier League club.
All of that said, it’s not clear why Juventus would be interested, so it’s possibly a ploy to get more money from Everton.
