Chelsea manager Antonio Conte allowed Michy Batshuayi to join Borussia Dortmund on loan in January and signed Olivier Giroud from Arsenal on a permanent deal in the same transfer window.
The Belgium international scored seven goals and managed an assist in 10 Bundesliga appearances. His stay at the Signal Iduna Park was cut short after he suffered an ankle injury in April.
Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws claims Batshuayi is no longer a first choice target for Dortmund this summer. They appointed Lucien Favre as their new manager and he he’s looking at other options.
Concerns have also been raised over the 24-year-old’s price tag and how that relates to his quality, and it looks like BVB are moving on.
Dortmund would prefer to sign Batshuayi’s Chelsea teammate Alvaro Morata. The report claims the Spain international would like to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and the Bundesliga outfit have already made “contact” the ex-Real Madrid striker.
This completely echoes claims from Germany’s SportBild, but HLN present it as their own information.
Meanwhile, Batshuayi’s future at the west London club will only be decided after Chelsea find a successor for Conte. The former Juventus coach will be shown the exit door and Maurizio Sarri is expected to replace his compatriot at the club.
The leaders at Chelsea still believe that Batshuayi has a future at the English club. The player’s contract with his current employers lasts until 2021.
