Leeds United continue to be pointed out as the main candidates for the signing of River Plate defender Lucas Martinez Quarta.

Argentine outlet El Intransigente brings a big story on the chase today, claiming that the Buenos Aires side have decided to sell him this summer.

The website writes that Fiorentina, Inter Milan, Milan, Real Betis and Valencia are all interested in the 24-year-old.

But the ‘strongest’ approach comes from Leeds, where Marcelo Bielsa would like to count on him for the Premier League season.

Lucas Martinez Quarta is protected by a release clause of €25m, but since River Plate are going through a difficult financial situation, it’s claimed they’ll start negotiating from €15m.

The defender spoke to the Argentine media this week, claiming he’s heard about Leeds United’s interest through his friends, and saying he’d fancy playing under Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League next season.

Now it’s up to the Whites to make a good offer.
