Even though Manchester United’s chase for Alex Sandro hasn’t had any big developments in the past few weeks, the Turin media continues to write about the possibility of a deal with Juventus.
On Monday, Tuttosport has a story about the Old Lady’s pursuit of fullbacks. One of them is Matteo Darmian, who the club have been in talks for.
The newspaper claims that Manchester United are demanding at least €20m for the player. But due to his lack of playing time, his age and his contract expiring in 2019, Juventus want to pay €12m plus bonuses, which would make the final amount get to €15m.
And even though José Mourinho would be following Alex Sandro, Tuttosport never mentions the possibility of a double deal. They actually make it a lot more complicated.
All they say is that if Manchester United show up offering €50m for the Brazilian, Juventus couldn’t say no to that offer. Then they would have to buy a right-back and a left-back, and would take that money and go for Darmian and João Cancelo.
Long story short, Manchester United taking Alex Sandro from Juventus would make the Italian club more convinced to sign Darmian.
That’s the clubs, or the newspapers, making business in the most complicated way they could think of.
