If you’ve remotely been following the Tottenham transfer rumour mill since the start of January, you’ll be aware that Salernitana in Italy want Pape Matar Sarr.
The Senegalese midfielder had barely been used by Antonio Conte up until very recently, and he has since impressed enough to earn praise and public recognition from the Italian.
This has made Salernitana’s task a tad more difficult, and the reluctance from Tottenham to let their player go has forced the Serie A club to give them an ultimatum about their stance.
Still, Corriere dello Sport on Friday explain that despite Conte making it clear he wants the player to stay, ‘the contacts between the two leaderships are continuous’.
That’s because the Italian club’s president, Danilo Iervolino, ‘has not yet abandoned his last hopes’ of signing the young midfielder for the second half of the season.
Much like Bryan Gil, the reluctance from Paratici and Conte at Tottenham is that loaning them out would harm the club’s squad depth, which could be crucial in what will be a very busy second half of the campaign.
