In case you were wondering, no, the idea that Moise Kean could return to Italy next season didn’t disappear over the bank holiday weekend.
It’s still very much alive thanks to Corriere dello Sport, who explain on Monday AS Roma are ‘continuing contacts’ with Mino Raiola regarding the young Everton forward.
First, however, the Serie A side would need to get rid of Patrik Schick, currently on loan at RB Leipzig, who have until June 15th to decide whether or not they want to make the move permanent.
Roma would like them to, and would be willing to give a little discount of up to €3m on the pre-agreed price (€28m) to ensure the deal goes through.
This would make space and create funds to bring in Kean from Goodison Park, but only on a loan at first with an option to buy him later on.
As for his ‘character’, as Corriere dello Sport put it, following his decision to have a quarantine party, ‘it’s believed [Paulo] Fonseca can get him to fall in line’.
It seems Roma would be prepared to take the risk, perhaps aware they could count on one of his very good friends, Nicolò Zaniolo, to help him settle in very quickly at his new club.
Either way, the bottom line is contacts are still seemingly ongoing and the idea is very much alive.
