Earlier this month, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Atlético Madrid have identified Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg as a transfer target.
It was also said the two parties have initiated a contact over a potential deal in the summer window.
Another report from the same outlet has now provided a new update on this case, and according to TuttoMercatoWeb, the midfielder is a ‘very important’ target for the La Liga side.
Diego Simeone’s side have approached Tottenham as it’s claimed the two clubs ‘continue to negotiate’ a deal for the 27-year-old’s transfer. Spurs’ first request for the Denmark international has been deemed high by the Madrid club.
TWM doesn’t make it clear about the demands put forward by Ange Postecoglou’s side for the Dane, who has two years left in his deal.
Since Atlético are keen to secure Højbjerg’s services in this window, the website adds they are working to find an agreement with the north London club.
The former Southampton man was a regular for Tottenham last season, where he made 44 appearances, managing five goals and seven assists in the process.
