On November 24th, Bild reported Newcastle United are keen on signing VfB Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy in the winter market.
Later that month, TV Play stated the Magpies would have no problem paying the fee needed to secure the striker’s services. He has a €17.5m release clause valid for next month, although the belief is Premier League clubs have to pay more than that.
AC Milan are set to battle it out with Newcastle and other clubs to sign the 27-year-old and Calciomercato now provides the latest on this case.
It’s said Milan have initiated contact with the frontman’s entourage. This is done to ‘get ahead’ of Eddie Howe’s side in the transfer race by finding an agreement with Guirassy over personal terms.
Milan are clear that they don’t want to get into an ‘auction’ with Newcastle, or any other club, to sign the Stuttgart player.
A move to Milan will see Guirassy play in the Europa League while Newcastle cannot offer European football. The San Siro club finished third in the Champions League group, ahead of the Tyneside club.
