Earlier on Wednesday, we covered a story from Spain stating that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was unhappy at Chelsea and wanted to return to Barcelona.

The forward was said to be depressed and missing the La Liga side terribly, with it added that he would be ready to do pretty much anything to leave the Blues and head back to Catalonia.

It was also stated that the Chelsea man had spoken to Xavi, who had told him to be patient, as a return would likely depend on whether or not they could get rid of Memphis Depay in January.

Well, it appears Barcelona are already taking steps to see if they can accommodate Aubameyang, as reported by Gerard Romero on his show Jijantes.

Taking to Twitter, he revealed that the Catalan club ‘have consulted La Liga about the salary allowance’ for the Chelsea player to return to the Spotify Camp Nou if they were to manage to get rid of either Memphis Depay or Franck Kessie.

That’s a big step to take, especially ‘in the past few hours’, and one the club probably wouldn’t do if they didn’t either have a realistic chance of bringing the striker back or have a deal for one of the other players in the pipeline.

Either way, it seems clear that Aubameyang might have to make some concessions to return, as we all know the La Liga giants aren’t exactly flush with cash.

This appears to be a situation to monitor very closely.
