On Monday, claims from England stated Manchester City’s Matheus Nunes could be an option for Atlético Madrid.

This is relayed by Tuesday’s edition of AS, who then provide their own take on this case.

It’s claimed the La Liga side ‘explore’ the possibility of signing the Manchester City player.

Los Rojiblancos ‘will push’ until deadline day to improve their squad and have set their sights on the midfielder.

The newspaper states the Madrid club are considering asking Manchester City about taking the 25-year-old on a loan deal.

At this moment in time, Diego Simeone’s side haven’t made contact or sent a formal offer to the Premier League winners.

The Portugal international joined Manchester City from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2023. He clocked in 1,360 minutes from 29 games in all competitions in his debut season, of which 654 minutes were in the Premier League.

Nunes’ situation hasn’t improved this season, with 28 minutes from two games. AS say Pep Guardiola ‘would open the door’ for Nunes to leave the Etihad.

Atlético have to take further steps to sign Nunes, and they have time until Friday to try and agree a deal with the Citizens.
