Borussia Dortmund would like to sign Hakim Ziyech on loan from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
That’s according to BILD, who say the Moroccan’s €10m a year salary at Stamford Bridge means the German side can only really look at a loan deal.
The newspaper explains that Dortmund boss Marco Rose is looking to get a ‘new star’ in the winter window, and Chelsea’s Ziyech and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria are on his list.
Club chiefs Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc and Sebastien Kehl, have already met to discuss their options and have ‘set their sights’ on Ziyech and Zakaria as a result.
Ziyech has found himself out of the picture at Chelsea this season, only managing to obtain a ‘noble joker’ role under Thomas Tuchel.
So far, he has just ten Premier League appearances to his name, with one goal in them, a situation that has led to ‘frustration’ for a player who was the star of the show at former club Ajax.
Dortmund would like to bring him in, but because the attacking midfielder earns ‘well over’ €10m a year in salary and still has three years left on his contract at Chelsea, Dortmund are ‘considering’ a loan with an option to buy.
Whether Chelsea will accept such a deal or even consider letting ZIyech leave isn’t mentioned, but that is the deal Dortmund intend to propose nonetheless.
