Portuguese side Sporting are reportedly considering cancellinh a friendly match that would be played against Brighton & Hove Albion next month.

As reported by newspaper Record, the current date set for the game would collide with the Cinco Violinos tournament, which is a traditional preseason competition hosted by the Lisbon side.

The problem is that Sporting have already received money for the match against Brighton. As the cancelation would therefore have associated costs, the Lions are still wondering about what to do now.

The clubs had agreed to send their first teams to the friendly, so using an alternative squad to play the match wouldn’t be an option for the Lions.

Sporting’s match against Brighton is scheduled to be played on August 3rd, and they were thinking of playing the Cinco Violinos game on August 5th.

Brighton have already played a preseason game this summer, having drawn 1-1 against St. Gallen in Switzerland. They’re still set to face AFC Wimbledon, Charlton Athletic, Birmingham City and Sporting before the start of the Premier League.
