Despite reports continuing to link Flamengo midfielder João Gomes with a move to Liverpool, we continue to see people claiming there’s nothing in this chase.
This week that stories from England said the player is wanted by Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp, and the club would be willing to trigger his €60m release clause.
As journalist Jorge Nicola now features a video speaking about this rumour, he claims his sources rule out that possibility.
According to him, Flamengo say there’s no offer for João Gomes. Plus the Rio de Janeiro club ‘distrust’ that information, since there’d be no need for Liverpool to show up and trigger the release clause without even trying to negotiate a fee first.
Nicola also claims that at the Brazilian side, the rumour is considered to be a ‘big lie’.
Last week, Sport Witness had already published an exclusive story saying Liverpool have no active interest in João Gomes, as there’s been no contact with the player’s staff or with Flamengo for the transfer. Officials from the Rio de Janeiro club recently dismissed the rumour as well.
