Loaned out to UD Ibiza in the Spanish second tier, Leeds United’s Mateusz Bogusz has been one of the club’s key players this season.
The young Poland U21 international has scored four goals and picked up seven assists in 22 appearances in all competitions this season, and that might be where it stops for him.
That’s because, according to UD Ibiza’s website, the player has ‘torn his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee’, publishing as much in a short statement.
The Leeds loanee picked up in the injury during Saturday’s 5-0 win over Málaga CF after 23 minutes after already picking up an assist.
It’s explained he will have surgery on the issue ‘in the coming days’, which will be a blow to both Ibiza and the Elland Road side, who will have been thrilled at how well he was playing in Spain.
There’s no indication as to how long the 20-year-old will be out, but these type of injuries normally take a number of months to fully come back from, meaning it’s very likely his season is now over and he will probably return to Leeds sooner rather than later.
