PSG are ‘confident’ they’ve beaten Chelsea to the signing of Achraf Hakimi, report Foot Mercato on Wednesday morning.

The Inter Milan fullback has been the subject of serious transfer rumours over the past couple of weeks, with Chelsea and PSG thought to be in a straight battle for the player.

French reports have been bullish regarding the Ligue 1 club’s chances of securing the deal ahead of Thomas Tuchel’s side, whereas in Italy the situation has been more open.

Inter are looking for a big injection of cash, which is the only reason they’re considering selling the player. It’s been repeatedly reported that Chelsea have wanted to use their own players in a deal, to bring the potential cost down.

Foot Mercato say Inter just want the money, and they state PSG have always been the favourites, partly down to Hakimi’s wife preferring a move to France.

According to the report, those in charge at PSG would like to complete the signing before the weekend, to make sure the player can start preseason training with them.

PSG are said to be offering wages of €10m per season, and a transfer fee of more than €70m.

Should Chelsea still be keen then they clearly need to hurry.
