According to Greek website Sdna.Gr, Panathinaikos are closing in on Newcastle United attacker Callum Roberts.
We recently covered claims from Greece that Pana are targeting the Newcastle United youngster ahead of the summer transfer after finding his chances non-existent under Rafael Benitez.
Former Newcastle United player and current Panathinaikos sporting director Nikos Dabizas is reportedly behind the pursuit of the 22 year old and today Sdna say the Greek club are looking to seal a deal for the winger.
Panathinaikos are hoping to add some pace in the wide areas for next season and they’ve also been linked with Asteras Tripoli winger Kosmas Tsilianidis.
Roberts looks set to leave St James’ Park club this summer when his contract expires, and it seems Panathinaikos are looking to give him a chance to kick start his career.
The player had a loan spell with Colchester United earlier this season, but he only played 37 minutes for the League Two side before returning to the Magpies.
