Marseille striker Bamba Dieng could be set to turn down a move to Leeds United after Nice made a late bid for him.
That’s according to journalist Papa Mahmoud Gueye, who says the striker is sat at Nice airport negotiating a move to the club.
Leeds made a late bid for the Marseille striker earlier today as they look to sign an attacker to boost Jesse Marsch’s squad.
A deal appeared to be moving quickly but there has been a late complication courtesy of Nice, who’ve now made an effort to beat Leeds to Dieng’s signature.
Several reports have them making an offer to the player and Gueye confirms as much, even stating that Dieng has an agreement with Nice on a five-year contract. According to him, they are now ‘closing in on a deal’.
Negotiations between the player and French side are currently taking place at Nice airport, where Dieng was due to fly to Leeds to finalise his move to Elland Road.
That now appears to be off, with Nice’s late bid turning the player’s head and creating classic deadline day drama.
