Izmir based newspaper Yeni Asir claim Goztepe are close to securing the signature of Chelsea defender Baba Rahman after club officials held talks with player’s agent to finalise the transfer.

It’s reported the Super Lig club have also convinced Chelsea after Goztepe president Mehmet Sepil personally got involved in talks to sign Baba.

Yeni Asir claim Baba is expected to arrive Izmir at the start of next week and Goztepe fans are preparing him a very warm welcome.

It’s also claimed Goztepe are set to freeze Adama Traore’s contract until the end of the season to find a space for the Chelsea player.

Earlier in the transfer window we covered comments made by Goztepe manager Kemal Ozdes who confirmed the Izmir based club are interested in signing Baba after the Ghanaian fullback fell out of favour at Schalke whilst on loan.

Recent reports in the Turkish media said Goztepe must beat Spanish sides Villarreal and Girona to secure the signature of the Chelsea outcast.
