Turkish newspaper Fanatik claim Fenerbahce are close to completing a deal for Aston Villa striker Mbwana Samatta.
After recently selling Vedat Muriqi to Lazio, the Turkish side are in the market for two forwards, and it’s been widely claimed Samatta is a target.
Fanatik have reported on the latest developments regarding their pursuit of the Aston Villa player and they say Fener will be looking to loan him, with an option to buy.
Samatta is said to be keen to continue his career in the Super Lig, and Fanatik add the Yellow Canaries are also close to convincing Villa over a loan deal.
If an agreement can be made Samatta will be available when Fenerbahce meet Galatasaray in nine days. The Istanbul club are also looking to sign Porto’s Ze Luis.
Samatta joined the Premier League side from Genk for €10m during the last winter transfer window after Dean Smith’s first choice striker Wesley was injured. He made 14 appearances in the Premier League, scoring one goal.
The 27 year old’s contract at Villa Park will expire at the end of June 2024.
