As has been reported many times in the past, Fiorentina are interested in Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira.
The Uruguayan midfielder is currently on loan at Atlético Madrid, but his lack of regular game time this season (a whole three starts in the league) has turned what was a promising move into a disappointing one.
With no future at the Emirates under Mikel Arteta, Torreira is likely to leave in the summer, with a return to Italy on the cards.
Fiorentina have been after him ever since last summer, and while they missed their opportunity then, they aren’t planning on doing so now.
Just last week, it was believed the Serie A club were ‘well ahead in talks’ to sign the player, and this is backed up by Corriere Fiorentino on Monday.
They explain the potential sale of Nikola Milenković this summer is ‘good money to relaunch the assault on Torreira’.
The midfielder is said to be Daniele Pradè’s first choice for the upcoming window, and ‘thanks to contacts in recent months’, has ‘gained a clear advantage over all the competition’.
The one issue in all this is the future of certain staff at the club, such as the director of football (Pradè) or the current manager Cesare Prandelli, as Rocco Commisso could end up doing a big revamp in the coming months, with some answers potentially coming at Easter.
