Despite this story not directly being related to the January transfer window, it’s still rather important for Fulham fans to know that their club could receive less money than anticipated for André-Frank Zambo Anguissa.
That would be, of course, down to the Cottagers to accept this, but Gazzetta dello Sport make it clear that Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli’s owner, is keen to save a few million here and there if he can.
The newspaper say the player’s future ‘will be decided in June’, regardless of how well he has played and will play between now and the end of the season.
Fulham agreed with Napoli that €15m could be paid at any time during the player’s loan away from Craven Cottage, which is an incredibly affordable fee for a player of his calibre, and yet, despite having ‘plenty of time to reflect’, negotiations could take place.
It’s made clear that ‘De Laurentiis will try to get a discount from the English club on the set €15m’, because ‘the pandemic crisis is still palpable at every level, and therefore perhaps an additional negotiation with Fulham will become feasible, also regarding the payment methods’.
Perhaps, then, rather than a discount, Fulham could agree for the fee to be paid over a few years?
We doubt it, but you never know.
