Struggling for regular play time at Tottenham during the second half of the season, Steven Bergwijn appears set to miss out on the Euros.

It was reported on Wednesday morning that the Spurs man would not be part of Frank de Boer’s final squad for the upcoming competition despite making the initial provisional list.

His lack of play time in north London, which consisted of seven league starts in 2021, contributed massively to this and could also be an indicator that he could be moved on going forward.

Bought during the 2020 January transfer window, the Dutchman could leave the club, according to Fichajes.net, as Sevilla are ‘one of the main candidates to take over his services next season’.

It’s explained that Julen Lopetegui and Monchi ‘would be looking for new offensive reinforcements to try and take the definitive step that allows them to fight until the end for the La Liga title’, with the Tottenham man a ‘strategic signing’ of the famous director of football.

The Spanish chief is ‘aware of the need to make a significant financial investment to gain the services of the footballer’, who would immediately become ‘one of the star signings, not only for Sevilla but also for La Liga this summer’.
