Fotospor report Galatasaray president Mustafa Cengiz wants to use his good relationship with Chelsea to sign Gary Cahill.

It’s reported Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim is keen to add a defender to his squad after the club’s Turkish Super Cup defeat against Akhisarspor at the weekend, and he’s asked Cengiz to target the likes of Kurt Zouma and Tomas Kalas.

However, Fotospor say Cengiz is looking to work with Cahill and will target the Chelsea defender.

The England international has been involved in several transfer rumours this summer, with it being thought Maurizio Sarri may not be planning a future with the experienced defender.

According to Fotospor, Galatasaray are looking to sign Cahill on a free transfer, but Chelsea are unlikely to accept such an offer as they will surely be looking for a fee.

The 32 year old played 27 Premier League games for Chelsea last season. Cahill is under contract with the Premier League club until June 2019.
