Galatasaray Chairman Dursun Ozbek president has spoken about the future of Bruma, following claims the youngster will be signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
Last week there were reports Tottenham had an agreement to sign Bruma, something which was quickly denied by the Turkish giants
Galatasaray president said: “Both Bruma and Sneijder’s contracts are running down. In the case of Bruma, I can assure you that he’s not going to leave. He’s a player that can serve Galatasaray for many more years. Sneijder is also the captain of our club and he’s not allowed to leave the club either.”
It’s been well documented Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to sign Bruma for next season, and the Portuguese winger is open to the prospect of playing in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old believes a move to Tottenham will enhance his chances breaking into the Portugal national team, and as yet he hasn’t come to an agreement to extend his contract with Galatasaray.
Bruma’s contract expires June 2018, and Tottenham could look to take advantage of the situation in the next window. The Turkish side will be looking to recoup what they paid Sporting Lisbon to sign the winger, and they could be force to sell the player in the summer despite Ozbek’s comments.
There’s simply no way Galatasaray would allow Bruma to run down the last year of his contract if a reasonable offer came in from Tottenham or anyone else.
Pochettino has repeatedly tried to add speed and width with Tottenham signings, but failed with Clinton N’Jie, and Georges-Kévin N’Koudou also faces an uphill battle to succeed. Bruma is an interesting option, and it would be no surprise if Tottenham interest is genuine.
