Arsenal target Caglar Soyuncu has spoken to the Turkish press about a move to the Premier League.

In recent weeks the Freiburg defender has been linked with Arsenal, with claims he’s close to agreeing a move to the Emirates.

Speaking to Ajansspor, Soyuncu was asked about a transfer to the English top fight: “For me, it must be a team that I can play first. As a defender, I do not have a chance to play every game. We will evaluate my chances of playing.

“At the moment it’s something of an exaggeration. It’s best to wait. The English league is a very good league.”

Earlier this month we covered comments made by Altinordu president Seyit Mehmet Ozkan who said Arsenal were close to signing Soyuncu.

With doubts over the future of Shkodran Mustafi at Arsenal, Soyuncu could be a possibility this summer for the Premier League club. Borussia Dortmund’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos has also been linked with the Gunners.

The 22-year old Turkish defender came through the ranks at the Altinordu academy and has been a regular for Freiburg since joining the German club.

Soyuncu has made 55 appearances for the Bundesliga side since joining two years ago and is contracted with them until 2021.
