Last week, we covered a report from Germany explaining that Tottenham were still keen on Sasa Kalajdzic.
The Austrian, currently at VfB Stuttgart, is out of contract in 2023, and with no renewal agreed just yet, could be a target for clubs looking for an imposing yet cheap striker in the summer.
Spurs, who do need someone to back up Harry Kane, were said to be one of them, interested in the past and still on his case to this day.
There was a belief that a deal of less than €20m could be sorted out with the Bundesliga side, but their director of football, Sven Mislintat, isn’t panicking just yet.
Relayed by Kicker, the former Arsenal transfer chief said: “Basically, he still has a contract. That means we’re a lot more relaxed. Sara said very clearly that he first wanted to get healthy and come onto the pitch before we finalised (his future).”
The 24-year-old missed the entire first half of the season with a shoulder injury, and only returned to Bundesliga action in January, when he returned in the 0-0 draw against Greuther Fürth.
His return has been key of late, as Stuttgart picked up their first win in the league since December 11th over the weekend, with a 3-2 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach, with the Tottenham target scoring the winner in the 83rd minute after his side went 2-0 down in the first 35 minutes.
