FC Kalmar president Mattias Rosenlund has been questioned over the deal which took Marcus Antonsson to Leeds United last summer. The Swedish side only made a small profit for 2016 despite the sale of Antonsson to Leeds United, and Ramon Lundqvist to PSV.

Speaking to Barometern, Rosenlund was asked why Kalmar only posted a profit of 38K Kroner, even though they sold Antonsson and Lundqvist for a combined total of 14m Kroner. The Kalmar chief revealed with regards to Antonsson they agreed with Leeds United the transfer fee could be paid in instalments.

He said the Championship side made their first payment when they signed the forward last summer, and they will make a further two more payments in the coming months. Rosenlund believes this is not uncommon, and happens a lot with football transfer deals.

“The Antonsson deal has been stated, the transaction was made in 2016. We’ve received a third of the payment, we get the second in the summer and the third in December. It is not unusual to do so,” said the Kalmar president.

Antonsson has only played a handful of league games for Leeds United despite a promising start by the forward. The player was recently asked by the Swedish media about returning to his home country in the summer, but the 25-year-old insisted he would remain with Leeds United.

However, with just five appearances this season for Gary Monk’s side it’s likely the Swede will have to consider his Elland Road future at the end of the season.
