Turkish football won’t let something like a failed coup and the country being in turmoil stop them enjoying football transfers, and the top clubs continue to target some well known talent.
Clubs in Turkey often aim high, and why not. In recent years players such as Robin van Persie and Nani have made their way over to Turkey, and seen themselves joined by some genuinely top talent.
Besiktas have just signed Adriano from Barcelona, and he joins a squad including Euro 2016 star Ricardo Quaresma. The club are keen to add more big names and their president Fikret Orman has been speaking about Christian Benteke and Mario Balotelli.
Turkish newspaper Hurriyet feature it on Thursday, and Orman explained: “Balotelli is a major star. Premier League, played in Italy, but a problematic player. It is the responsibility board on transfer. When we decide to transfer it’s if convinced.”
On Benteke he said: “But the player is at very high cost. It does not seem to be an easy transfer. We are interested, there are other names on our list and we will get 2 or 3 players.”
