Until Sergej Milinković-Savić leaves Lazio, the player will continue to be linked with a transfer away, with Manchester United more often than not chosen as a likely destination.
One of the last reports we covered on the Serbian did just that, and with just 20 months left on his contract at the Serie A side, there’s once again talk of an exit in January.
Juventus are the ones mentioned as the interested party this time, as Gazzetta dello Sport recall that ‘no one came forward’ for the midfielder last summer ‘despite another excellent season’.
This ‘fatally affects his price’, because while Claudio Lotito was still asking for €100m a year ago, he can no longer do so.
They also remind their readers that ‘there is a pact of honour between the Biancoceleste president, the player and his agent Mateja Kezman’, which is that the 27-year-old can leave ‘if a first-tier proposal arrives’.
Not only that, but Lotito ‘would prefer to see him abroad’ so as to not have to face him twice a year in the league.
This could certainly help Manchester United should they continue to press for the player, as they seemingly have done for the past few years without ever managing to get a deal done.
As for the price this time around, with Juventus reportedly thinking about a move in January, it’s said those in charge in Turin ‘will be able to equip themselves to present an offer that must start at €50m to reach €60m with bonuses’.
This amount is said to be an ‘obligatory basis for luring Lazio into the temptation’ of selling Milinković-Savić.
Therefore, Manchester United would need a similar fee, and may have the advantage of not playing in Serie A to help them overtake Juventus if they were to go head to head for the midfielder.
