Como 1907 is a club few will have heard of on these shores, and yet it’s one associated with a great name in English football: Dennis Wise.
The former Chelsea midfielder became the historical Italian side’s technical consultant in 2019 when it was taken over by SENT Entertainment, moving to the role of sole administrator in February 2021.
Under his club management, Como were promoted back to Serie B this year, where they will be hoping his football network will help them attract bigger players from abroad, perhaps from clubs such as Queens Park Rangers or Watford.
This is according to their chief scout, Christian Buccoleri, who spoke to TuttoMercatoWeb about his role at the club and relationship with Wise.
Focusing primarily on out of contract players in Holland’s second tier when in Serie C, attracting the likes of Azzedine Dkidak and Alvin Daniels, the club are now aiming higher, with the Hoops and the Hornets potential clubs who could lend them a helping hand.
Asked by TuttoMercatoWeb about whether or not Wise’s network was a bonus, he replied: “Dennis has opened contacts with QPR and Watford. They can be solutions for next season as well as relationships with other big English clubs. We’ll see, now it’s time to celebrate, but there is a certainty.
“The solid block we have has given us a lot. The guys who were the backbone of the team will also accompany us into Serie B”.
We’ll have to see what either QPR or Watford have to offer Wise and his rising Como club, but with the Hornets holding onto many young talents they are more than happy to loan around the world, they could be a great source of resources for a club whose sole aim will be to avoid the drop back down to Serie C.
