Earlier this week, Catalan journalist Oriol Domenech reported Marc Overmars will leave Ajax, and this was backed up by De Telegraaf on Thursday.

Arsenal and Barcelona have shown interest in Overmars in the past and the Dutch newspaper stated the Gunners could be handed another chance to sign the Ajax director of football.

Domenech’s claims regarding Overmars has been mentioned in today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo and their journalist, Miguel Rico provides more information on this case.

According to Rico, Overmars is ‘an old dream of Arsenal’, where he had already spent time during his playing career between 1997 and 2000.

It’s claimed the former Netherlands international ‘will have destinations to choose from’ when he leaves the Amsterdam based club.

Mundo further backs up Domenech’s claims about Overmars leaving Ajax as Rico states the Eredivisie side are ‘already moving’ to sign a replacement for the 47-year-old.

Jordi Cruyff, who is currently managing Chinese side Shenzhen FC, could be a potential candidate as Ajax have already tried to tempt him in the past.

Cruyff is also reportedly wanted by several of Barca’s presidential candidates to be the club’s new technical director.
