Elche owner Christian Bragarnik travelled to Liverpool last week to continue negotiations regarding a collaboration between the two clubs.
That’s according to AS, who say the Argentine ‘took advantage’ of a break in the fixture list to visit Anfield and watch the clash between Arsenal and Manchester United.
The newspaper explains that Bragarnik travelled to England to meet with Liverpool’s leaders and negotiate ‘different formulas’ for a collaboration between the two clubs.
This was the latest in a series of meeting between both entities, with Liverpool representatives having travelled to the Martinez Valero stadium a few weeks ago on something of a scouting mission.
That trip was done so they could ‘get to know the facilities’ and ‘work methods’ at the Spanish club, as well as the project that Bragarnik has in mind for them.
His intention is to establish a link between Liverpool and Elche so that the latter can get players to bolster the Spanish side. He also wants to ‘establish a channel’ between the two clubs for ‘the projection of interesting players’ so they can be developed.
Liverpool, though, want to ‘widen their net’ and have already publicly acknowledged their interest in acquiring new entities to be managed under their umbrella in various sports.
What extent Bragarnik and Elche are ‘willing to participate’ remains to be seen, with the former having made the club his star project since taking charge.
How the talks went with Liverpool is currently unknown, and Bragarnik has now returned to Spain to continue working at the club.
The idea is there, though, and this could be something worth keeping an eye on moving forwards if Liverpool step up their plans to expand.
