Turkish newspaper Aksam claim Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli was key in convincing Islam Slimani to choose Fenerbahce over other interested clubs.

Fenerbahce have beaten Sporting and Besiktas to Slimani’s signature and the player arrived in Istanbul on Friday night. The Algerian striker was in the stands to watch his new team when Fenerbahce faced Bursaspor yesterday.

Aksam report Comolli convinced Slimani with his projects and vision for the club, and the Leicester City player reportedly left very impressed with what he heard from the Frenchman.

According to the Turkish newspaper, after talks with Comolli, Leicester City’s record signing rejected other offers and decided to join Fenerbahce for a season long loan deal.

The 30 year old will now look to prove himself and regain his form in the Turkish Super Lig after a disappointing time in England.

Slimani failed to hold down a place in the Leicester City starting eleven and was loaned out to Newcastle United last season.
