According to Sporx, Besiktas president Fikret Orman has held talks with Stoke City regarding Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Turkish website reports Besiktas’ president met with the agent of AZ Alkmaar’s Alireza Jahanbakhsh in London but after their unrealistic demands the Turkish club have turned their attention to Stoke City attacker Shaqiri.

Sporx say Orman has met with Stoke City’s board members regarding the signing of Shaqiri and the Turkish club are hopeful of getting a deal done for the 26 year old.

It’s been widely covered in Turkey that clubs from China are showing an interest in Besiktas wingers Ryan Babel and Ricardo Quaresma, and subsequently the Turkish club might be looking to replace either with Shaqiri.

Shaqiri was linked with a move to Galatasaray last week and there’s a possibility the Stoke City player could be heading to the Turkish Super Lig, or so it seems the Turkish press would like to think.

Turkey may not be the worst destination for Shaqiri, he’d get hero worship, a good wage, and a good chance of being able to display his talent to big audiences.
