Besiktas president Fikret Orman has told the Turkish media he took the decision to bring in Liverpool’s Loris Karius after he saw a couple of bad performances from Tolga Zengin.

The Liverpool goalkeeper has joined the Istanbul club on a two year loan deal, and will be looking to put last season’s disappointments behind him.

Orman has spoken to Beyaz TV, as covered by Vatan, and the Besiktas chief was asked about bringing in Karius: “Tolga is a very good goalkeeper. But in truth, he’s not consistent. This forced us make the transfer.”

The arrival of Alisson at Anfield this summer this put further question marks over Karius’ future with Liverpool and in recent weeks he’s been linked with a move to Turkey.

The Turkish club have now found their new No.1 in Karius following the departure of Fabri to Fulham and many expect the German to thrive under Besiktas manager Senol Gunes, a legendary goalkeeper in Turkey.

Gunes has managed to turn around lot of goalkeeper’s fortunes throughout his managerial career and he could do the same for the Liverpool loanee.
