On Wednesday, the British media reported that Cardiff had mande an offer for Anderlecht’s Ivan Santini of around €5m, who would be a far cheaper option than Emiliano Sala, who’s value stands at around €25m.
However, it appears those stories were a bit too premature, as the Belgian side’s director of football, Michael Verschueren, dismissed the claims during a press conference on Friday.
When asked about a potential deal with the Neil Warnock’s side for their Croatian forward, he said: “I’ve had no contact with Cardiff”.
DH, who relay the information, do, however, point out that a deal for the striker isn’t ‘impossible’, leaving the door open for the Bluebirds should they need to quickly snap someone up towards the end of the month.
Despite losing his regular starting spot with Anderlecht, the 29-year-old has scored 11 goals in 16 league games this season, seven of which came in the first three games of the season.
