Besiktas president Fikret Orman has spoken to BeinSportsTR after his club won the Turkish title at the weekend. Orman was asked about the club’s summer transfer plans, and the Besiktas chief has confirmed his interest in Sunderland’s Jeremain Lens.
“Yes, it’s true that we’re showing an interest in Lens. He’s not Fenerbahçe’s player completely so we can move freely. It doesn’t matter Fenerbahçe are in for the player or not, we all have the same chance after his loan spell ends.
“He’s of course a good player. He wanted to come to Besiktas while he was at PSV. He knows what kind of great club Besiktas is. It’s normal that he wants to come here. He informed me about his wish. We’re showing an interest but we also have other targets in mind.”
These quotes will certainly not be welcomed by Fenerbahçe fans because they don’t want to lose The Sunderland owned player to a local rival. The Netherlands international impressed for Fenerbahçe during his loan spell from Sunderland last season, but his future is uncertain.
Lens was critical about Sunderland whilst in Turkey, and another loan move could be on the cards this summer. The player will not be keen on playing in the Championship, and is likely to push for a transfer.
