Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu has confirmed the Turkish club are in talks with Leeds United forward Caleb Ekuban.
Agaoglu has spoken to Demiroren News Agency, as covered by Sabah: “Since the beginning of the transfer season, almost 20 players have been considered, one of them is Ekuban. Muhammet Bashir and Ramil Sheidaev left the club leaving only Burak and Rodallega.
“Ekuban is a low-cost player, so there is no definite situation at the moment, but negotiations are continuing.”
Trabzonspor only have two strikers available with just Burak Yılmaz and former Fulham striker Hugo Rodallega at their disposal. Yılmaz is expected to leave the club before the transfer deadline on Friday and subsequently the Super Lig club have turned their attention to Leeds United’s Ekuban.
Agaoglu will continue talks with Ekuban and based on his comments, the player could still leave Leeds United before the Turkish transfer deadline.
The 24 year old has yet to feature for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season and may need to move on to get playing time at another club.
Last season Ekuban played 20 League games and scored one goal. The former Partizani Tirana player is under contract at Elland Road until 2021.
