Besiktas vice president Ahmet Nur Cebi has spoken to the Turkish press after his side were thrashed by Osmanlıspor, and he’s confirmed the club are interested in signing former Newcastle United star Demba Ba.
The Turkish champions have been linked with other forwards in recent weeks, following claims Cenk Tosun could leave the club either in January or next summer,
Aksam have reported on comments made by Cebi when quizzed about Newcastle United target Tosun, and the possibility bringing in Ba: “Yes, we are considering Demba Ba as an alternative. It’s also true that we are receiving offers for Cenk Tosun, which is pleasing because it shows we are on the right track.”
“For now, we don’t want him to leave but as you know things can change very quickly in football. If we decide to sell him then we have to look at the alternatives and I can confirm Demba Ba is in our list.”
These comments from Cebi could will encourage Newcastle United ahead of the next transfer window after being linked with Tosun in recent months.
The Premier League side tried to sign the Turkey international in the last window, but failed with an attempted bid for the player.
Newcastle United have since been linked with a January move for Tosun, with reports in late October they could table a bid for the forward in the new year.
