Pablo Hernández played a vital role in helping Leeds United achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2020.
After spending five seasons at Elland Road, he decided to leave the Whites when his contract expired at the end of the season.
It’s still not clear where the 36-year-old is moving, but he will not be short of suitors.
According to Efesista.es, FC Cartagena have their ‘sights set on’ signing the free agent in the summer.
When planning for the 2021/22 seasons, the outgoing Leeds player’s name has been discussed at the second division Spanish club.
Cartagena have now come forward and their interest in signing the former Swansea City man has been confirmed by their president, Paco Belmonte.
“Sometimes there are signings that you say: how did you get here? Well, a name has arrived that until now we were not evaluating, but the other day I remembered it, and suddenly they wrote to me about that possibility, and the name is here,” the Cartagena chief said.
When specifically quizzed if he was talking about signing Hernández, Belmonte confirmed it: “He is free and wants to play in Spain in an exciting project.”
Clearly Belmonte is excited by the possibility of Hernández playing for Cartagena, and they have joined the list of suitors.
