Chelsea have the ‘most talented and unique player in the world’ in Mykhaylo Mudryk and need to invest more coaching into him to get him to his best.

That’s according to Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Sergiy Palkin, who insists that Chelsea need to be doing more to get the best out of the Ukrainian in a chat with beIN Sports.

Mudryk has had a miserable time of things at Stamford Bridge since arriving at Chelsea in a €70m deal from Shakhtar in January 2023.

He had been one of the hottest rated youngsters in world football before that point, with a series of thrilling performances for the Ukrainian side domestically and in the Champions League, plus a tally of 12 goals and 17 assists in 44 games, earning him a list of admirers.

Chelsea eventually won the race for him, moving quickly to secure his signature ahead of rivals Arsenal, but Mudryk has been unable to live up to his price tag since with just four goals and five assists in 43 games to date.

Indeed he has largely been labelled as a complete flop but Palkin is having none of that and instead insists Chelsea need to invest more time into him on the training pitch.

“I can tell you that, for me, Mudryk is the most talented and unique player in the world,” he said.

“I believe that in order to get the maximum from Mudryk, as they anticipate, you need to invest in him. And these investments are not money.

“The investment is time with the coaching staff to communicate with him and to work closely with him. Because he is a young boy, he changed from the Ukrainian Championship for the English Premier League.

“It’s a completely different world, with completely different levels, with football that’s completely different. I believe that if the coaching staff dedicates some time to him, he will return three, four or five times more.”
