In the winter market, Tottenham Hotspur took Radu Dragusin from Genoa and allowed Djed Spence to move in the opposite direction on a loan deal with an option to buy.

The 23-year-old featured regularly for the Serie A side, and Calciomercato say Genoa have an option to make his stay permanent for €10m.

The Italian club are keen on retaining Spence, but they aren’t willing to pay €10m to Tottenham.

Therefore, Genoa CEO Andres Blazquez has made a trip to London to hold talks with Spurs, likely with their chairman Daniel Levy, to try and get a discount.

Calciomercato explain that it’s ‘a difficult but not impossible task’ for Blazquez to convince Levy & co.

The two clubs have a good relationship after carrying out deals involving Dragusin and the right-back in January. Genoa sporting director Marco Ottolin worked with former Spurs director Fabio Paratici at Juventus, and the latter has been advising Levy on Tottenham’s transfers.

Genoa believe these are the two factors that can help them secure a discount from Spurs to buy Spence.
