Roma are carrying out ‘ongoing evaluations’ on Everton midfielder Allan as a potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say the Italian side have the Brazilian on their list of potential replacements for the stricken Dutchman.
Wijnaldum only joined Roma on loan from PSG earlier this month but suffered a fractured leg that is set to see him spend months on the sidelines.
That’s left Roma desperately scrambling to find a replacement for their midfield, with Jose Mourinho publicly stating he needs an addition and the club agreeing.
They are scouring the market for free agents or players who have been deemed ‘surplus’ by their current clubs and Allan is one of them.
He’s currently out of favour at Everton, having started the campaign on the bench due to a niggling muscle injury from pre-season.
That, coupled with Frank Lampard’s preference for a two-man midfield and the big-money arrival of Amadou Onana, has left him down the pecking order and a move away has been mooted.
That would suit Everton as the midfielder is in the final year of his contract, meaning this is the last window for them to make any money from a sale as he will be free to negotiate with clubs for next summer in the January transfer window.
Roma are now carrying out ‘ongoing evaluations’ and eyeing a potential move, although whether this would be on loan or permanently isn’t mentioned.
At this point it seems the Everton man is merely an option rather than anything concrete being in the pipeline, but it could be one to keep an eye on in the final week of the window.
