Helping Valencia reach the Copa del Rey final against Real Betis, Bryan Gil was hoping to bring home the trophy.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be, with Joaquin and co. winning on penalties, leading the Tottenham loanee to cry his eyes out after the final whistle.

He’s had a huge impact on Valencia this season since joining them, thrilling the fanbase with his dribbling and incisiveness, and pretty much everyone, whether it be fan or staff member, would love to keep him around.

To do that, however, the La Liga side would need to sit down with Tottenham, who may or may not be open to the idea of letting the 21-year-old return to the Mestalla for another season.

A permanent transfer seems out of the question, as Deporte Valenciano explain the club ‘can’t even dream’ of affording him on anything other than a temporary basis.

As for a new loan, the fact Valencia have failed to qualify for a European competition (the Copa del Rey was their shot at it) makes it a bit more difficult, but ‘another year of loan would not be crazy, even if that means paying for the deal and taking care of wages that aren’t low’.

It’s stated that the Tottenham winger desire ‘will also be key’, but that is ‘something that will come later’, because if he wants to continue but ‘there is no way to pay for the operation’, then it’s all a bit pointless.

First, however, the club need to evaluate their finances and work out what can be done.
