Valencia will have to pay €20m if they wish to sign Hélder Costa on a permanent deal from Leeds United in the summer.
That’s according to Super Deporte, who say that the Spanish side will have to stump up €31.5m to sign their current crop of loan stars.
Costa is one of them, having arrived on loan from Leeds in the summer when the arrival of Dan James pushed him further down the pecking order.
After a rocky start to life at the club, including a dose of Covid chaos during the international break, he’s since established himself as a key player for Jose Bordalas, with a series of impressive performances earning him rave reviews.
Several reports last month made it clear they have an option to make the loan from Leeds permanent for €20m, although that was ‘unfeasible’ given the state of the finances at the club.
Super Deporte back that up today, stating Costa can be signed for €20m, although they don’t make it clear if that is a clause or there is an agreement with Leeds.
Either way, there is a transfer price in place, while they would also have to provide Costa with wages worth €3m a year.
Whether they can do so is up in the air, with finances tight, and it made clear they would have to ‘dig deep into their pockets’ to get any of their loan players on a permanent basis.
With more than half a season left, they’re in no rush to do so and will ‘evaluate’ their options before making a decision on the likes of Costa.
