Last month, we covered claims from Italy that Napoli have shown interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Dejan Kulusevski.
The Naples club were keen on appointing Antonio Conte as their next manager and wanted to reunite the winger with former Spurs manager.
Napoli are no longer looking at Conte, but the Tottenham player still has a market in Italy.
That’s according to ASRomaLive.it, who say AS Roma have set their sights on him for the summer window.
The Serie A side are yet to appoint a new sporting director, but behind the scenes, work has been ongoing to find players who will suit Daniele De Rossi’s system. Juventus’ Federico Chiesa was the first name the manager mentioned to the club’s owners.
De Rossi has requested two more attackers irrespective of whether or not Roma sign Chiesa, and this is where Kulusevski has been identified as a target in the ‘last few hours’.
ASRomaLive.it make it clear this is their original information and state Roma’s technical staff ‘really like’ the Sweden international. Having joined Spurs from Juventus in January 2023, it’s said he doesn’t rule out a move back to Italy.
It’s worth pointing out the Italian sport media often say these things about players, because they can’t fathom anyone not wanting to be in Italy and Serie A.
The 24-year-old’s agent also manages De Rossi and the report states the incoming Roma director, who is expected to be Florent Ghisolfi, ‘can count on the preferential lane’, if they decide to make an offer for him in the next window.
A deal, however, would depend on Tottenham opening the door for a possible loan deal with a purchase option.
Kulusevski has a contract until 2028 and has been a regular under Ange Postecoglou this season. It’s unlikely for Tottenham to consider parting ways with him, unless he pushes for an exit.
