Kepa made a return to Premier League action on Sunday, managing to keep a clean sheet as Chelsea battered Everton 4-0.

The goalkeeper will be relieved to get his place back, after a period out of the team encouraged transfer rumours and all kinds of claims in Spain.

Sections of the Spanish media sent snipes towards Frank Lampard, and there were even suggestions it was being encouraged by people close to the former Athletic Club Bilbao stopper.

At the same time, the English media linked Chelsea with every conceivable goalkeeper option for the summer window, with some ideas clearly based more on imagination than any genuine information.

One of those was a link with Marc Andre ter Stegen. The Barcelona goalkeeper certainly isn’t under question at the Catalan club and a summer exit feels very unlikely indeed.

Catalan newspaper Sport make it clear this is a rumour which should be dragged out to the skip. They cover claims from The Express, and then explain Barcelona are ‘very calm’, not worried at all by claims of Chelsea interest.

Ter Stegen has let Barcelona know he has ‘no intention’ of leaving them this summer, and claims of a recent meeting with Juventus have also been rubbished.

He would, however, quite like a new contract, which will probably be coming his way in the not too distant future.

So, even if Chelsea made an approach, they’d almost certainly face rejection.
