Liverpool were desperate to offload Mario Balotelli this summer, because the club believed they have better options up front and the Italian didn’t really suit Jurgen Klopp’s style of play.
The 26-year-old eventually signed for Ligue 1 side OGC Nice on a free transfer, and has started the season in impressive form.
However, according to a report in L’Equipe on Sunday, Balotelli’s agent, Mino Raiola, tried to stop OGC Nice from signing the former Manchester City striker.
OGC Nice President, Jean Pierre Rivère, has been speaking to L’Equipe, and has revealed Raiola told him a bunch of reasons why he shouldn’t sign Balotelli.
He said: “Before an important meeting with Mario, whose plane was late, Mino told me all the reasons why I shouldn’t sign him.
“And when the player arrived, he released him: “Well, I have told everything bad about you to the president”. These are sales techniques.”
Rivere insists Raiola has brought Balotelli to OGC Nice, but he isn’t too sure if he has done that happily.
He added: “He helped us sign Balotelli but I’m not sure he does so gladly. He said. “For once, it was Mario who will choose his destination”.
“But if it goes wrong here, it will become complicated for the player and his agent.”
