Negotiations between Tottenham and Napoli for Tanguy Ndombele are in the ‘early stages’ but the Italian side are keen on the Frenchman.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport and Corriere Dello Sport, who both have their own takes on the situation today.
Ndombele has been linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer, with it clear he is not a part of Antonio Conte’s plans moving forwards.
Napoli have been named as a potential destination this week and the two newspapers explain what is happening behind the scenes.
Gazzetta report that after settling deals for the defence and attack, Napoli are now focusing on their goalkeeper and midfield positions.
Ndombele ‘should be’ the replacement for Fabian Ruiz, who is joining PSG, and the club have met with his agents to discuss a move.
The big issue is his wages, with him currently earning €8m a year at Tottenham, a figure that will have to be worked on as Napoli won’t be matching it.
Corriere, meanwhile, state that Napoli have ‘begun to inquire’ about Ndombele but the deal needs ‘long dialogues’ before it can be struck.
The Italian side would like a loan deal similar to the one they used to sign Franck Zambo Anguissa from Fulham as that is seen as a ‘conceivable path’ for all parties.
However, his asking price is far beyond the ceiling set by Aurelio de Laurentiis and so Napoli will need to strike a deal with Tottenham to make the transfer happen.
Fortunately, they can use the relationship between Cristiano Giuntoli and Fabio Paratici, who have been friends since they were young, to their advantage. Negotiations, though, are ‘still in the early stages’.
